You: I usually argue for veganism based on certain animal's living conditions in the US.

You: i.e., suffering, not slaughter

Stranger: Suffering in what way?

Stranger: Like animal testing?

You: No, not really

You: I mean in factory farms (which are the majority of farms in the US)

You: So for dairy cows and especially chickens

Stranger: How they kill the male chickens

You: One practice is debeaking--banned in a lot of other countries--where they sear off the beak with a hot blade. Also, battery cages involve a lot of suffering

You: ~ also banned in other countries
